Uncle Walter
Uncle Walter was my father's best friend and we saw a lot of him and his wife, Madeline and their son, Jerry as I was growing up. He and Aunt Madeline were also my godparents and Uncle Walter and I shared the same birthday. They lived in Westbury. Uncle Walter was a farmer as a young man, along with Uncle Willie - we sold their corn in front of our house on Lakewood Avenue. When he was older he had a cesspool service. He was a real character. He didn't have much tact and he had some prejudices. He had a good heart, though.
