Aunt Emily
She is the only one still surviving. She lives here on Long Island with her daughter, Pat. I spent a lot of time with this family when I was growing up and I loved them. Her husband's name was Mike Dunne and he owned a soda and beer business on Merrick Road in Bellmore. I spent a lot of time there and at their house in Mineola. They had six children: Pat, Rosemary (she and her husband Greg Fleming are close friends with Aunt Sally and Uncle Jimmy and they live in Point Lookout). Bernadette, Michael, Jr., Sharon-who was six days younger than me and we were together a lot and always sleeping over each other's houses, and Kathy is the youngest. I loved sleeping over the Dunne's house probably because Aunt Emily was so orderly - the kids were on a strict schedule with chores to do, everything was always neat but we also had fun. Even their dollhouse was beautiful and orderly. Aunt Kathleen and I went to see Aunt Emily a year or so ago and she is still very sharp. |
