Fatso (1980)

Synopsis
: Dominick Di Napoli is an overweight man who cheerfully eats his way through every day. The death of an obese cousin shocks the family and soon has Dom's emotional sister hounding him to lose weight. Meanwhile he meets a beautiful young girl and falls in love. Which will he love more, the food or the girl? In the end the real question is, can he love himself and allow others to love him in spite of his weight.

Brothy's Favorite Line : "It's a candle snuffa outa."

Brothy's Favorite Scene : The scene when Dominick calls his "Overeaters Anonymous" sponsor and they talk about their favorite things to eat. "Have you ever sucked the jelly out of a jelly donut and then filled it with rocky road ice cream?" The conversation leads to an all out orgy of eating which lasts the whole night.

Brothy's Fast-forward Segment (the scene they could have left out): Its all good. If anything they should have added a few extra scenes.

Brothy's Opinion in a Nutshell : Anne Bancroft captures perfectly the emotional landscape that is New York, along with its Emotional ethnic eccentricities and Catholic guilt. Dom DeLuise is at his funniest (even better then his role as the voice of Tiger in An American Tail). This movie puts dieting in perspective and shows us that there are more important things then looking like a movie star, like loving yourself and the body that God blessed you with (and $60 worth of Chinese Food).
