The Vampire Lestat
Anne Rice

Synopsis: The prequel to An Interview with the Vampire , this is the story of Lestat, a young French nobleman who is turned against his will into a Vampire. From Paris to Greece to New Orleans he encounters others of his kind as he tries to learn about the origins of his kind and find his place as the living dead in a world of darkness.

Brothy's Favorite Part : The part when Lestat comes up with the idea for the Theatre de Vampires in Paris so that the local Vampires can pretend to be humans pretending to be vampires.

Brothy's Least favorite Part: Lestat's first night in a coffin - that creeps me out, man.

Brothy's Opinion in a Nutshell : I went through an Anne Rice phase shortly after High School when I read all of her books. This one and the Queen of the Damned were my favorites at the time. When they made a movie combining both books I was extremely disappointed. They missed all the good stuff. Later Memnoch the Devil came out, in which Lestat is given a tour through Heaven, Hell and the History of the World through the eyes of the Devil. Although, the Vampire Lestat still stands as my favorite in the series, Memnoch is one I read through every few years because it gives an interesting perspective on Catholic mythology and shows that evil is simply the absence of God.
