Where The Wild Things Are
--By Maurice Sendak

Synopsis: A young Ridlin child who gets into mischief and talks back to his mother gets sent to his room without supper, where his imagination takes him to a world of Wild Things who respect his authority. Soon, however he realizes that he's hungry and he misses his mom, so he sales back to the night of his very own room - to find that his mother has brought him dinner.

Brothy's Favorite Part : The Wild Rumpus.

Brothy's Least favorite Part: When the monsters roar their terrible roars and roll their terrible eyes and gnash their terrible teeth I used to get a little scared until Max calms them with his magic.

Brothy's Opinion in a Nutshell : This is a great book on many levels. As a child I found it entertaining and beautifully illustrated. As a father I find it helps me appreciate my son's wildness, even when it gets a little out of hand. As a preacher, I appreciate the idea that even when we mess up, we are provided for (as shown with the hot meal waiting at the end). It is the oldest story in the book - Rebellion, Eviction, Grace and Provision, and possible Reconciliation (its up to Max to repent of his Wild ways).
