Blair thought you all might enjoy an update on Emily's little activities, that make her, her:
Emily Kate Bisher is the cutest little thing. Her latest joy is playing with the door stopper on the back of the door, because when she flicks it, it makes that really cool springing noise. She'll do it over and over and over... it's so cute.
Sometimes, we'll lay her down for bedtime, and she lay awake in her crib, whispering to her stuffed animals. Sarah, and I will sneak in and watch her. Eventually, she'll look over and see us, and smile, as if she's embarrassed.
Emily loves to crawl over to the TV cabinet, and rip all of the DVD's off the shelves. She'll pull them all down, until she is sitting atop a pile of DVD's. Just a couple of days ago, she managed to open one of the DVD's, and she closed it on her thumb. She cried, the delayed screaming cry, until Sarah had to finally put her to bed, because she was inconsolable. It could be categorized as her first encounter with pain.
She's catching on that she is supposed to wave when someone walks into the room. So what she'll do is, she'll wave towards herself, never at the person. It is really funny how her tiny brain is realizing what you are supposed to do, but doesn't exactly know why or how, as of yet.
When you're feeding her a bottle, she'll stare at you, and she will reach up, and start playing with your cheek, almost stroking it. It's as if she's saying... "Thank you SOOOOOO much!!!"
When Emily Kate was born, she came out screaming, and pulling her thick black hair. They placed her, screaming, on the table beside Sarah, and the second I said hello to her, she fell silent, and stared right at me. When Sarah held her, she was so at peace. It was amazing to see how quickly she just seemed to "know" who Mom & Dad were.
